Dr Laura Elena Tepelus
Occupational Medicine Specialist
Dr. Laura Elena Tepelus, the founding member & Managing Director of MediSense Clinic, got her DHA license as the first Occupational Medicine Specialist in UAE, in January 2005.
She also holds Master Degree in Clinical and Occupational Toxicology since 2007. Dr. Laura has been an offshore – OGUK (formerly UKOOA) certified doctor since 2011, certified for conducting Norwegian offshore medicals since 2014, and approved Bermuda seafarers medical provider since 2018; she completed an Aviation Medicine postgraduate course in 2012. In 2024, she completed her registration with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to conduct MCA ENG medicals at Medi Sense Clinic, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
She is also a BLS/ ACLS – AHA certified provider, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 140001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 Internal Auditor and Medical Expert.
Prior to establishing Medi Sense Clinic along with the other partners in December 2021, Dr. Laura worked with Occupational Health International Clinic, a dedicated occupational medicine clinic in Dubai, as Medical Director and Occupational Medicine Specialist for more than 11 years, establishing the base of a very well organized center, with high-quality level of occupational health and general medical services, supporting clients from different industries, and with services offered to more than 100 corporate clients. Before that, Dr. Laura took the initiative in developing the first Occupational Health Department in Cedars – Jebel Ali International Hospital in Dubai, where she practiced her specialty for almost 8 years.
Dr Laura has more than 20 years of experience in Occupational Medicine, Offshore Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Adult Vaccination and Travel Medicine, Family Medicine and General Medical services in reputed medical centers in the UAE and Europe.
She is a member of the Romanian Medical College of Doctors, member of Gulf Occupational and Environmental Medicine Group, the Infection Control Network Committee, Dubai, a member of the Emirates Medical Association (EMA), she was Vice-president of Occupational Medicine Society UAE in 2019, and she is also a member of DHA Special Purpose Group (SPG).
Her areas of professional interest include occupational medicine, clinical and industrial toxicology, industrial hygiene, preventive medicine, vaccination and travel medicine, offshore and aviation medicine, stress management, infection control, and implementation of quality, health and safety-related standards in all her areas of work.
Owing to her previous experience and passion for her work, her main interest being the patients’ health, safety and wellbeing, she is able to serve the requirements of the industry with the utmost care, high-quality standards and a high level of efficiency.
